Sarasota Memorial Hospital's plans for new towers to get city's review
City officials have begun reviewing Sarasota Memorial Hospital's plan to replace an aging doctors' office with a high-rise that will be among the tallest on the hospital's 24-acre campus.
Plans submitted earlier this month to the city's Development Review Committee by a team comprised of Benderson Development Co. and Dr. Mark Kauffman call for two new buildings totaling 204,360 square feet.
The taller of the pair, an 11-story building with a mix of physicians' offices and residences, is being designed to rise 150 feet. The tallest building on the hospital's campus today is 10 stories.
